‘Tux Battle’ Review
I cannot say that Tux Battle is an unusual game because I’ve seen it several times before. Tux Battle takes the concept of games like Tanks and turns it into its own little version of that – Tanks may be a very popular and fun game but does this recreate that for the iPhone?
The bottom line is no. This game tried to be its own version of those style of games but while doing so has been the reason why it has failed. The player and computer are penguins, they throw snow balls at each other and you must adjust the angle of the throw and speed to hit the opponent, the only thing is the wind. If you adjust the bars correctly then you’ll find your snow ball on a crash course right into the AI’s penguin. If you don’t then you might find your snow ball going to the top of the screen and going the opposite direction of the AI.
The game only has one mode, not much movement at all and isn’t a straight up pick up and play game due to the fact it could take a while to actually know what you’re doing. I find the fact that there is minimal movement on screen quite boring, which for the player in this case myself a little off putting because nothing interesting is happening at all. I have to say the game doesn’t look that bad because the graphics are alight but then again it comes down the the fact that not much on the screen is happening and makes it easier to make it look good.
In the end there is not much to say about the game, one game mode and not a few animations on the screen happening at all doesn’t offer a very fun, long lasting and appealing game. In the end this game doesn’t seem to be worth the payment of $o.99 because it is so empty as a whole game.
I won’t say totally avoid this game because there are bound to be some people out there who like it. To me the game is too empty, more game modes and some more animations can for sure make this game better than it is. I wouldn’t put this on top of your list, maybe down the bottom somewhere because there are a lot of other games available for the same price but offer a whole lot more. These games include Doodle Jump and Flight Control.
It’s a game that doesn’t offer much, little animation and only one pretty boring game type. This leads me to unfortunately only giving Tux Battle 2 out of a maximum of 5 stars.
