Rapid Recap: Sorter
Sorter by indie developer Albert Omoss is a simple fast-paced sorting game avialable in the App Store for just $0.99, where two or more colored orbs will funnel in and must be sorted by dragging and dropping them into the correct box.
I really can’t think of anything off the top of my head to compare this too. It really is that unique. Sorter is all about sorting of course, but there’s a lot more going on here then just idle organization.
Noteworthy Props:
- Unique concept
- Fast paced, catchy gameplay
- Great presentation
Major Complaints:
- Not multi-touch capable, meaning you can only drag and drop one orb at a time.
- Would like more power-ups/special obs
In Sorter you start off on the first level, with only two colored orbs (one red and the other blue) to sort out. As you progress and unlock new levels the difficulty is ramped up substantially by adding in additional colors.
On the first level there is only two colored orbs that will funnel in randomly from either the top and/or bottom doors of the level. On the right and left side of the level there are two colored box-doors, a red box-door on the left and a blue box-door on the right. When the orbs funnel in you must drag and drop them quickly into the correct box-door before they explode.
Yup, that’s right each orb is a bomb that will explode if not sorted away quickly. There’s also special orbs like a rainbow looking orb that will sort everything on the screen for you, and another one with a star that will drag in all of the orbs of the same color once you drop it in the box-door.
Score 3/5
I really liked the unique concept here, but I was kind of disappointed that there wasn’t any multi-touch support. Other then that Sorter is a very solid experience with not much of anything to really complain nor brag about here. Besides it’s only $0.99 cents and if you’re looking for a simple time-killer you will definitely enjoy this one. Just don’t expect to keep it around for too long though.
