Rapid Recap: Pass Football
“Pass Football” is arcade style football (soccer) game for iPhone and iPod touch. You are playing against AI controlled opponent’s team. The rules are simple: tap on your teammate to pass the ball or tap on the opponent’s goal to shoot.”
…and that is pretty much all there is to it.

- Gameplay 2/10
Pass Football is a 5 man soccer game where the rules are simple, score more goals than the opponent. Unlike most soccer games you don’t actually move your players since this part is controlled by the AI. What you can do, when in possession, is to tap one of your players to pass the ball to this player. You can also tap the opponents goal to shoot.
There is only one game type, red versus blue and you can pick either team. As soon as the opponent has the ball your player closest to the ball will be drawn to this player and try to take the ball. When in possession you try to pass the ball around and eventually get a shot on goal.
Presentation 3/10
Pass Football isn’t pretty although the player movements look pretty good.
Controls 3/10
The controls are somewhat limited since all you can do is to tap one of your players to pass the ball. When you aren’t in possession all you can do is to sit and watch. There is no way to position your players, tell them to move in a certain direction or in any way influence the gameplay as long as the opponent has the ball. As soon as you get the ball your opponent will swarm that player and you pass the ball within the team (reminds me of the time you and your friends took someones baseball cap and tossed it around while the owner franticly chased it) to eventually get into the opponents defensive zone to get a shot on goal.
I believe that this is the major flaw in this game. If you had more control this game could be a lot of fun. If I could select a player, drag him to make him move to a certain spot would add a much needed dimension to the gameplay.

Re-playability 2/10
I played one round game and I felt that I had gotten all the excitement I could out of this game. I couldn’t see myself play game after game when the ultimate goal is to beat your best score.
Final Score 2/10 — 1/5
Pass Football seems to be half done, but with a few improvements this game could actually be interesting. Until then I’ll probably let it sit.
