‘Opera Mini’ By Opera Software ASA – Out Now
As many of you know, that Opera Mini for the iPhone and iPod Touch was released yesterday, but you may not know that it’s the #1 free downloaded app in all 22 App Stores. Yep, that’s right. Now, I’ve spent a few hours with the Opera Mini web browser and it’s an ok web browser. There are better ones I prefer that are on the App Store, but something nice about the Opera Mini web browser that it’s much faster than any of the other web browsers on the App Store. Why? It’s because web servers at Opera compress the page you want to visit then send it to Opera Mini on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Opera Mini also has a tabbing system as well, but it’s not the best compared to other web browsers on the App Store that have a tabbing system. Opera Mini features:
- Speed Dial gets you to your favorite Web sites with a single tap.
- An address field with auto-completion means you type less.
- Tabs allow for multitasking with several Web pages.
- Bookmarks can be easily managed and accessed.
Overall the Opera Mini web browser is ok and does the job just fine, but I prefer others on the App Store such as the Mercury Web Browser, which is free as well, but you can get the paid version that has more features.
