Dead Strike Preview
A major new survival horror franchise is about to debut on iPhone/iPod Touch, it’s name: Dead Strike. While the plot sounds frighteningly familiar, developer Psychoz Interactive seems confident the game can push the boundaries of psychological terror and action packed zombie shooter on the platform.
After a deadly virus has decimated the human population, turning them into flesh-eating zombies, a small band of survivors do battle against the undead in the city of Fallen Fall hoping to discover a vaccine. Dead Strike’s inspirations are obvious, Silent Hill style environments crossed with Resident Evil’s survivors versus zombies storyline and (most excitingly) a planned online multi-player mode a la Left 4 Dead.
A formidable arsenal of weaponry will be at your fingertips: including the usual guns and knives, but also more unconventional munitions such as chainsaws and flame-throwers. The single-player game will offer a choice of four different characters to use, each with their own unique abilities, meaning there’s multiple ways to play Dead Strike, so the game should be of a decent length and have good re-playability.
The graphics look amazing, zombies rush out the darkness while a hail of bullets from a gun or blast from a flame-thrower lights up the night sky. These zombie attacks seem suitably scary and very gory. The game will also feature life like special effects and animation, cunning enemy AI (Monsters react to sounds and noises and communicate amongst themselves when looking for fresh meat!), immersive 3D environments: with 46 levels in total, and much much more.
The game looks as if it’s shaping up to be one of the best horror games for iPhone/ iPod Touch yet, and a major update (that’ll introduce the 4 way online multiplayer) and a sequel are also in the works. Dead Strike has been submitted to Apple for approval, and should hit the AppStore early next month, so for now feast your eyes on these terrifying screenshots.
The game will launch at $1.99 (66% sale). Check Pocketfullofapps regularly for more breaking news on Dead Strike!
