Dyno Quest Review
Foreword
Well when I saw this game I straight away wanted it. I loved the colour in the game and the it looked so much fun. I’m happy say that is all true
Gameplay
Well the basis of the game is simple. Match up the same colour bricks to make them disappear. You do this by controlling your little dinosaur at the bottom of the screen. You can move him left and right with your finger. Then on the right you have two buttons. One is for suck up a brick and the other is to shoot it back. So you can pick up a lone blue brick and then put it with a bunch of others and they’ll disappear. You have to have at least 4 bricks for them to disappear but you can of course have any number above that. There are some obstacles thrown into the rows of bricks. All of them are ones that can’t be moved. You make them disappear by destroying the ones behind it. Some are just plain bricks. Others are bombs that destroy all nearby bricks. And others shoot lightning destroying rows.
You can also get power ups from some. You can stop time which prevents new rows from coming for 10 seconds. You get lightning which destroys an entire column. And one destroys a large bunch of rows and columns. Its very handy when they start getting too close for comfort. The speed in which the rows are added increases as you goes through the levels. You’ll have plenty of time at the start but later on you’ll have to be able to move fast to make them disappear. Also as you move up through the levels more bricks are added. In level 1 you only have red, blue and yellow. But later on you get green and purple added to the mix.
As well as the regular classic mode which goes up in levels there is also endless mode which just keeps going. Its really like the levels but without the stopping in between. As you go on the other coloured bricks are added and the speed increases but it does add something different to the mix. Also an interesting feature is that you don’t have to do the tedious playthroughs of the early levels if you don’t want to. You can start at the highest level you reached with the score when you started that level. So when you select classic mode you choose between level 1 or your highest.
Presentation
Well as I said earlier the colour in this game is great. Its full of it. From the bricks to your dino that you control. It all looks really great. There are various backgrounds for the game too which all look superb. Also I’ll mention the controls here. They are done well. Its really easy to move and work the bricks. I did see a mention for there to be a switch for left handed people. This would be good. It doesn’t affect me but it would for those leftys. The sound in this is so cheerful. You get a little cheer every time you make a big combo. Also there’s great music which makes the right mood for this game; casual fun.
Cons
I have so far not found anything bad with the game. I just enjoy it so much. There are always things that could be added but nothing major that affects the game in its current state.
Final Word
JUST GET IT!!! I think that’s a good way to describe it. But seriously its so much fun and so simple you wont regret it.
– Great Fun
– Looks brilliant
– Good features and modes
