Two games published by Chillingo have gone on sale for a limited time. Those games are The Quest and Speed Forge Extreme. More info is below.
To celebrate 1st Year Anniversary in the App Store for The Quest:
Speed Forge Extreme is now $0.99 from $2.99 to celebrate the recent update. The new version 1.2 update includes:
Speed Forge Extreme is a futuristic combat racer, pretty much a Wipeout clone – it is by far, the closest thing to it on the Appstore right now. Does it hold up some unique features to make it stand out with other futuristic racers out there? Let’s find out.

The game has only 6 vehicles to choose from, each with it’s own stats and different looks. Not all ships are available to you so you have to win some races to be able to unlock them. You’ll race through 12 different tracks and that’s an impressive number. Your ship can blast your competitors which includes some fine weaponry like rockets, guns, and mines. Just like any other racer, the main goal is to be the first one to cross the finish line.

The game gives you many control options from tilting or button-based steering, manual or auto acceleration and brake. It wouldn’t be impossible to find what fits for your liking. Controls are good and I am having no problem with that.
Visually, the game is impressive. It has very nice graphics and has some nice 3GS-specific effects. It would be more impressive if the tracks and the environments aren’t dull and doesn’t look very industrialized. But don’t get me wrong, it is one of the most visually-impressive games I’ve seen. It’s just that it will benefit more depending on the theme.

One more gameplay option of the game is the Battle Arena where you face enemy ships and just stay alive. Nice addition and adds some slight relay value. Unfortunately, this kind of games really shine on multiplayer and this game doesn’t have it – online or local.
The gameplay seems to be either like it or hate it. If you’re a Wipeout fanatic, you’d be disappointed by the boring gameplay structure of Speed Forge Extreme. Maybe it’s just me but the game feels dull at times. It’s not as exhilirating as I expected it to be or atleast what it’s supposed to play. But it’s still a fun game nonetheless.

So, is Speed Forge Extreme worth picking up? Yes, you’ll enjoy it especially if you’re into racing-mixed-with-combat games even though the replay value is very short-lived and I didn’t find myself addicted to it. SPE is just what it is and offers nothing ground-breaking or some original features to make it truly a classic.
