Yep, that’s right, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 is coming to the iPhone and iPod Touch. The man himself even announced this, via his Twitter, but the tweet announcing Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 for the iPhone and iPod Touch can’t be found now. As of now, there’s no word on the release date, but Tony Hawk said it would be ‘dropping soon’. Same thing goes for the price as well, but non-the-less it will probably be worth it. This might be a direct port of the original Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 from 2000, but there’s no official announcement yet. The screenshot to the right is of the iPhone version just in case if you were wondering. The game looks more or less identical to the Nintendo 64 version. Rayman 2: The Great Escape by Gameloft has been released, well onto the New Zealand App Store that is. Rayman 2: The Great Escape costs $9.99 on the New Zealand App Store which means that it will be $6.99 USD when it lands in the US App Store late tonight or early tomorrow. This Rayman 2: The Great Escape is a port from the Nintendo 64 version and contains 45 levels all in 3D. Screenshots and the application description are below.

Rayman 2: The Great Escape on the App Store.

Gameloft has announced that Rayman 2: The Great Escape will be released on March 1st, which is in 4 days. This Rayman 2: The Great Escape is a port of the original Rayman 2 for the Nintendo 64 (N64) version. There has also been other ports of Rayman 2 for the N64. The Nintendo DS got a port, but tarnished much of the magic due to an extremely bad camera system. No word from Gameloft of how much Rayman 2: The Great Escape will cost, but it will be released in 4 days. I’m pretty excited for this as for I have Rayman 2 for my N64 and I played it a lot, and still love the game to this day. Having it on my iPod Touch will be even better, especially because I will have it with me where ever I go.

Canabalt is a fast-paced game where you must use quick reaction time and reflexes. You have this guy who seems to be running away from the city’s catastrophic fate from the invading aliens. Its like War of the Worlds meets Mirror Edge with its parkour elements thrown in.

Tapping the screen makes the guy jump and that’s all for the control of the game. Yes, it’s that simple. Depending on how long you tap, he can either jump very low or jump at a long and high distance, this can be very tricky especially the game is randomized every time. You will certainly have no idea what is coming your way. As you run from building to building, certain obstacles block your way including chairs, boxes. This can be either a life-threatening or a life-saver. Sometimes when you run so fast, It’s hard to keep up with the game so you’ll need to intentionally hit those obstacles in order for you to slow down. Slowing down too much will result in you not making it to the other building because the momentum is lost. You’ll learn how to strategize if you keep on playing the game and you’ll find yourself scoring high scores everytime and spam about by sending your scores to your tweeter account.

The game’s graphics is superb. The whole game is in black and white, so expect things to be in line with certain shades of gray which I think really fits to the game’s end of days/invasion theme. The man reminds me of NES days and features pixelated graphics. While the background seems to be more like SNES graphics and looks great watching the giant robot-like aliens incinerate the city. From time to time you’ll see a jet plane fying by, and doves fying away from you, really nice attention to small details. Music-wise, you really need to use headphones for this one as the game suggests every time on loading. It has a techno flavor to it and really adds to the adrenaline. Sometimes the music becomes silent and all you can hear the the little sound effects like the footsteps, and even the guy’s breathing when he leaps. Really nice subtlety.

Canabalt is a great pick up and play game with a simple/minimal concept that really works. You’d really feel the rush of things that will really test your reaction and your skill as well. In addition to the possibility of addictiveness for this game, an upcoming update will come running it’s way that features global leaderboards, this will certainly last you for quite sometime trying not to only beat your own scores, but all the Canabalt players around the world.
