Puzzling Penguins Review
Puzzle Penguin is a well-crafted puzzle game by Joshua Greenspan and his development team. The game is set on South Pole where penguins live. Because that place is mostly ice, your goal is to guide a cute penguin in a water hole.
You simply slide the penguin to any directions until you can slide him to the hole. There’s a twist in the gameplay, the penguin will slide past the hole if there is no object behind it to stop it from sliding. But there are ice cubes on some levels that will come in handy but you will still have to think of a good strategy to set the ice cube beside the hole as the penguin and the cube only slides horizontally and vertically. As yu progress through the levels, the puzzles gets challenging but not the type that will make you frustrated and bring you a lot of pressure. The puzzles are relaxing enough that it is still fun and challenging. There’s an easy access of the reset button that will obviously reset the moves you did to the original formation and locations of the penguin, the hole and the objects.
The game has 80 levels. That’s a lot if you ask me. You will really find yourself spending hours beating this game. and because you’ll spend quite some time with the game, it automatically saves your progress so you don’t have to worry about losing it.
The graphics are very cute and very appealing. It features some variety to the background so you won’t see the same old background level after level. What this game lacks is the music. Puzzle games needs to have some sort of music that will make your mind on a relaxed state, especially that you’re thinking too hard to solve a puzzle. Without music, it gets boring over-time. But hey, you can listen to your own music! It is really a personal preference because I don’t listen to my own music when playing games. I love games’ own soundtracks.
Puzzling Penguins is an adorable game that will appeal to almost everyone, most likely the kids. The puzzles are challenging enough but puzzle gamers will breeze through the levels it in a matter of minutes. But that’s not a bad thing.
