Well, Activision just released their latest addition to the Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies series: Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies II. Now, you are probably thinking that this is a brand new Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies game, well, really it’s not a new game. It’s just an extra map added to the game for $9.99, but made into an app. Now, Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies II can also be download via an in-app purchase if you have Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies. If you want to get this new map it will cost you $4.99 via the in-app purchase, however, it will cost you $9.99 for a whole new app. This time, the new map takes place in Shi No Numa which is a zombie swamp. Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies II/the new map features:

• The Zombie Swamp is a hauntingly beautiful, massive new environment filled with terrifying zombies, weapons, and zombie traps.
• New weapons featuring the Wunderwaffe DG-2. Fry hordes of zombies with a single blast from this shockingly powerful new weapon.
• Survive the Hellhounds! Ferocious and fast, the Hellhounds will test your reflexes and your team’s ability to work together.
• The online 4-player co-op action you’ve come to expect returns with even more intensity
• New playable characters! Play as Tank Dempsey (US), Takeo Masaki (Japan), Nikolai Belinski (USSR), and the infamous Dr. Edward Richtofen (Germany).
• New Zombie traps including the Flogger for massive Zombie destruction and the Zipline for quick getaways.

If you want to download this new map, you will have to update your Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies game and then download the in-app purchase for $4.99. So, remember, if you have the first Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies game there’s no need to download Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies II for $9.99 to get the new map, but instead update your Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies game then download the new map saving you $5.99.

Well, for those of you that have the Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies by Activsion (like me), you will be excited to hear that Activsion is bringing a new map, new enemies, and new weapons to the game. The new map will be called “Shi No Numa” and will be the biggest map available for the game. The new enemies include Japanese soldiers and hellhounds (yes, hellhounds!!) which will respawn at random times and places while playing the game.  The new weapons include:

• Arisaka
• Wunderwaffe DG-2
• Tesla lightning
• Type 100 machine gun.

As usual, all of these new things will cost $4.99, however, the app it self is $9.99 and includes 1 map and some weapons. Currently, there is 1 downloadable map available, so after this one, there will be 2. The new map, new enemies, and new weapons should be out soon, however, I am not sure of the exact release date though. So, just be on the look out for this new in-app purchase here in the near future.

Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies on the App Store.

Activision has released Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies for the iPad at $14.99, while the iPhone and iPod Touch version costs $9.99. Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies does have HD graphics for those of you that are curious. The iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad versions feature:

• Online multiplayer
• Online multiplayer supports up to four players via Wi-Fi/Internet. Play with your friends in the same room, on the other side of town, and even across the globe. With the option of either private or open matchmaking, where there’s a Wi-Fi connection, there’s a friend to go Zombie-hunting with.
• This is the Zombie experience from Call of Duty: World at War. “Nacht der Untoten” has been fully realized on the iPhone™ in a silky smooth 3D environment, along with the return of your favorite guns and killer power ups.
• “Verrückt” is an expansive insane asylum on the outskirts of Berlin that features an array of new weapons, life-saving Perks-a-Cola machines, and zombie-crisping Electroshock defenses.
• Three different control schemes are available to suit your style. Take advantage of the iPad’s tilt capabilities or, for Zombie vets, use the virtual analog sticks to fend off the undead.

Introduction/First time booting the application
First things first, COD Zombies is $9.99 USD for one map. But that does not take away from the fun of killing zombies and having it all in your pocket! When you first open up COD Zombies there is splash screen, and then a quick video that shows a foggy wasteland with a plane that has crashed. Then a zombie runs up to you, and the video ends. Then you are into the main screen, which shows Single Player, Co-op (which will be described later) and Extras, and new maps. The Single Player is fun when you don’t have Wi-Fi, but it is awesome to be able to play with 3 other people online.

Graphics
The graphics, to me, are what really draw people into the game (and maybe the whole ‘Call of Duty’ brand name). The graphics can easily be toned down to make the game run faster, which helps later on in the later rounds. Though throughout the time I’ve had this game playing on an iPod Touch 2G, it runs smoothly on Medium graphics, even on multiplayer. The zombies, gun models, weapon box, and even the barricades are detailed. Everything is polished, and works well.

Sound
The sound in this game works out well for what setting you are put in. Your in this abandoned building, and zombies are trying to kill you, the sound is right there along with you. The music is great, yet there is no support for your music from your library.

Controls
With every FPS, the controls make the game. In COD Zombies, there are three (3) different types of control schemes. The first control scheme is Touch Screen, similar to NOVA or Modern Combat Sandstorm. The second is Dual Stick, which you move with one, and aim with the other. The third is Tilt, which is you move with one stick, tilt to aim, and fire with the fire button. You can easily re-calibrate the controls, change the sensitivity of the X/Y axis’. You can even invert the Y axis, too (which a great option, i use it all the time).

Replayability
Though COD Zombies has only one map (and now a new DLC map, Verruckt), it has great replayability. It has 4 player co-op. This is a great feature, and works with almost all routers (though some Netgear routers have been said to not work). There is also Bluetooth multiplayer, for local co-op. I have tried out the co-op mode, which works out pretty well. The only problem is that there is no chat or any type of communication, and lots of times people leave for no reason, and you are often left alone. But all in all, COD Zombies has great replayability, and new maps are being made today (again, Verruckt just came out yesterday, so now Treyarch is working another map).

Closing Comments/Summary
COD Zombies is priced at $9.99, which may be steep for one map, and even then another $4.99 goes into Verruckt, COD Zombies is well worth the price if you are a fan of first person shooters. The controls can suit anyone, and work well, and are responsive. With multiplayer via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, the co-op mode is fun and great for trying out tactics that others may have thought of. If you have heard or played Call of Duty on the console, you should at least try out the lite version. Its the least you could do, and if you like what you see, then you should go up to the full version. Though buying Verruckt isn’t required, there is a demo of the map available for download through the game too, for free. Play the first three rounds of the map, just as you did in the lite version of the game.

Call of Duty: World At War: Zombies has finally gotten a update including a new map. Now, this new map costs $4.99 via in-app purchase. To have both maps, it will cost you a hefty $14.98. The update also includes 9 new weapons including FG-42, Gewehr-43, PPsh-41, M1 Garand, and the Springfield. Here is what full list of what the new update includes:
