I thought that this would be one of those tweaks that are faulty and break everything it could. I was completely wrong about that. Dashboard X from Ori is the tweak of the month for me. Now iPhones can still beat Androids because of this. It’s putting widgets on your homescreen. Widgets designed for Dashboard X and for the Notifcation Center! It’s a simple process. You hold ANYWHERE on the homescreen, and it’ll go into wiggle mode. Then you hold it again and something pops up. That something is the start of a whole new life for your device. It’s the place where you activate widgets. When you tap on one, you’ll have the choice of two options. 1 = Interaction & 2 = Auto Center. Interaction is if you want to be able to touch the widgets. Like if you are using the weather NC widget, you’ll be able to swipe on it and see the forecast if Interaction is turned on. Auto Center just adjusts the widget to the center. Though sometimes it’s off by the slightest much and it messes with you. (or at least me)

Dashboard X is $1.99 in Cydia.

BatteryInfo from Chef, is the best Notification Center tweak out there that deals with the battery. It has plentiful to show you and it’s amazing! It shows you your capacity of the battery, (factory and the condition now), tells you the temperature of the battery which is again amazes me. Then it has your load cycles and a lot more in it. It used to be a huge widget, would take up half of the screen, but they shortened it into a half of that and it’s so awesome. If I were you, I would totally buy this now.

BatteryInfo is $0.99 in Cydia.

Switchy. (from John Coates) The tweak that was imagined, has came to be. Switchy was originally from a blog someone has posted. (which if I can find, I’ll post) and this person thought that the multitasking tray could have been improved much more if Apple could aim for other things. Someone made that happen a few days after. I personally thought that this would not be a tweak to happen in a long time. But I was proven wrong. It pushes the multitasking tray up further for more space. The first section is basically settings with your Settings.app in there, Brightness bar, and a button for ending all apps. The next slide over is your music. It has the same buttons as before, even the sound bar. But now it shows you the songs name, artist and album name. Pretty neat. Slide over again and it’s an extended multitask tray. Instead of one coloumn, there are two. So that means you don’t need to slide as much to find that one app that is still running in the background. All in all, it’s an amazing tweak and I love it, oh so much.

I’ve missed last week’s tweak week because we simply didn’t have any tweaks that really were good. But this week, we have some interesting tweaks, and some free pizza! (we really don’t have any free pizza).

First up we have Giffy, a tweak that should have been added into the iOS itself, made from IanP. Lets back up a second. When you save a picture from Safari, it saves it in Photos.app. But when you save a .gif file and when it goes into Photos.app, it is only the still image. But with Giffy, it saves the whole “video”. There isn’t a play button to watch it play, it just plays as soon as you tap on the pictures icon. If you think this is stupid, think again. This is what makes jailbreaking iDevices fun and exciting, being able to do something you wanted it to do from the start.

Giffy is $1.99 in Cydia.

Next up is Auto App Killer from ipodtouchmaster. Auto App Killer frees up apps that are taking up too much memory. Let’s say you have a some apps open, and you are playing a game like COD:BOZ. The iDevice will try and free as minimal as possible, allowing the game to run on minimum RAM and not maximum. But with Auto App Killer you can choose and decide when the iOS will kill an app. In Settings.app, there is a slider for the tweak that allows you to choose when apps should be killed when the RAM gets low or at a certain point. It’s really great when you have a device that doesn’t have a lot of RAM to begin with.

Auto App Killer is $1.49 in Cydia.

Lastly is SwipeSelection from iKy1e. SwipeSelection allows you to use gestures on the keyboard. I have yet to find all gestures, (if there are more than one). But now editing on your iDevice just gotten easier than cutting pie with a coat hanger. You can swipe back on the keyboard and your cursor will move back also and put on finger on the keyboard and another swipes back and it will highlight that text. Pretty neat-o.

SwipeSelection is free in Cydia.

This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who knows something about planning and planting a garden because there are really two separate parts to the process. There is the basic layout and design phase, which involves planning the arrangement of space, and then there is the planting phase, which involves knowledge of flora and fauna varietals. However, you can get a number of apps that will work together in a complementary capacity to help you with both of these issues in the landscaping process, providing you with the plant information you need for your area (planting schedules, native options, selections for different levels of sun and shade) and the tools that will help you design the gorgeous and professional layout you seek.

Unfortunately, it seems that there is no single, comprehensive app for the gardening guru looking to create a virtual exterior space before implementing it in the real world (at least none that are worth mentioning, according to reviewers). This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who knows something about planning and planting a garden because there are really two separate parts to the process.

Let’s start with layout and design apps, since you’ll probably want to plan for a basic setup before you head to the nursery to start choosing plants. Eden Garden Designer ($1.99) is a good one to start with because it allows you to work with your own space. All you have to do is take photos of your yard (from any or several points of view) and use the available library of plants to see what your space might look like if you added plants of varying heights and colors. Although the main complaint about this app has been the lack of variety, the point is not really to pre-plant your garden in a virtual space, but rather to get a basic visual representation of where different types of plants (trees, shrubs, flowers, vines) might fit into your very own garden.

Garden Plan Pro ($9.99) is another option to consider. Despite the price, which is a bit steep for an app, it is a far more useful tool for the serious designer. Although it doesn’t have the option of actually mapping over your existing space, it does offer the tried and true “floor plan” approach laying out your garden space, with options to set the dimensions of your landscape and section it off (including raised beds or planters), pick a variety of plants, and even track planting and growth cycles on a chart organized by month and plant variety (and set reminder alerts).

Now that you’ve got the basic layout decided it’s time to decide which plants you want to include, and you may have it in mind to create a fruit, vegetable, and herb garden as well as purely cosmetic additions like flower beds, trees, and decorative planter boxes. For this you will need a plant guide and there are a couple of good choices. Dirr’s Tree and Shrub Finder (the digital companion to Dirr’s “Manual of Woody Landscape Plants”) will set you back $14.99, but it’s the go-to app for the horticulturalist in need of help. It’s basically a plant database that gives you myriad filtering features so that you can find the best plants for your locale and the time of year. Landscapers Companion provides a similar but less expensive option at $5.99. Finally, you might want to download the free Gardening How To app, which gives you access to the National Home Gardening Club’s official magazine (and their community of followers). Now if only some clever developer would come up with an app that could drive John Deere lawn tractors, you’d be all set.

The free version grants players access to the first two rooms featured in Fibble's journey -- the kitchen and the bathroom. In these levels gamers can look forward to a taste of the addictive gameplay and excellent graphics on offer in Crytek's debut release for mobile devices.

"We wanted to offer everybody the chance of trying out Fibble because this is our first game in the mobile space, and is not what people expected from us. Therefore, as it is Easter, we decided to release a free version." states Nick Button-Brown, General Manager - Games of Crytek, "We are really proud of Fibble, and want to encourage as many people as possible try it. Also, we aren't stopping the development process for the game now that it has been released and continue to work on new content. We will release this content for free for the full versions of Fibble in the near future."

Fibble (the game) places players in control of the cute, but a curiously brave Fibble -- an extraterrestrial who has crash-landed on earth and become separated from his crew in the process. Your goal is to help Fibble find his friends, and combine the unique skills of the crew whilst navigating across the rooms of a suburban home. In comparison to the free version, the full edition features 30 puzzling levels spread throughout several rooms of a fun-filled suburban home.

SPRING BREAK 2012! Welcome all, including you, and you, not you, and you in the far back. So, this week has been an interesting week, full of days and weather changes. Easter is also a day away, so that is something to think about (not really). So with all that out of the way, lets start this!

First we have a tweak that shows off the multitasking side of the iOS. It doesn't really add anything important, but it makes the multitasking screen beautiful to look at. What I am talking about is, Aero from SBCoders. Aero changes the look and feel of the multitasking screen. You can replace the screen or you can choose a different action to toggle the screen to appear. Aero also allows you to "kill" the app by tap & holding the icon. In Settings.app there are other settings you can mess with, like changing the view, changing the background and other little tweaks for it.

Aero is $1.99 in Cydia.

This tweak, is something I've always wanted. You are in the Lockscreen, you plug in your headphones, and you still have to double press the home button to play music. With this tweak, it stops that and adds some cool features. Headphone Launcher from S2 IT Consulting LLC. Headphone Launcher allows you to plug your headphones and when in the lockscreen, the iPod Controls will pop-up and so will something else. That something else is specific apps you choose inside the Settings.app (there are default apps that show up) and you can tap on those and it'll bring you to that app. I find this tweak useful because I don't need to double press the home button for the controls to pop-up, they are already there when I plug my headphones in.

Headphone Launcher is $0.99 in Cydia

Lastly, we have another thing that has to do with the multitasking side of the iOS. This tweak, KillBackground by Mathieu Bolard (@mattlawer) is a very useful tweak. KillBackground adds a small (or large button) on the side of the multitasking tray (left or right) and with a simple tap, it erases all the running apps in it, including the "dead'" ones. It's useful when you have way too many applications in there and you don't want to delete every single app manually.

KillBackground is Free in Cydia.

This tweak, KillBackground by Mathieu Bolard (@mattlawer) is a very useful tweak. KillBackground adds a small (or large button) on the side of the multitasking tray (left or right) and with a simple tap, it erases all the running apps in it, including the “dead’” ones. It’s useful when you have way too many applications in there and you don’t want to delete every single app manually.

KillBackground is Free in Cydia.

What is up you silly children you. Sorry about last week, I had to deal with some personal issues and they have been resolved. But, I am back like an infection inside your cornea. (But not really!)

Today, we have some great tweaks to review. So, before I get started. I would like to thank you for taking the time to read these weekly articles! Now, we can get started.

Have you ever gotten notifications that give you the most bland alert tone that other applications use too, and as soon as that alert tone goes off you are rapidly thinking what application is it. Well, there is a solution for that now. PushTone by yeahwangy, is the tweak that you need. PushTone allows you to change the tone of different applications to what ever tone you want it to be! So let's say that you downloaded Tweetbot and you do not like it's original notification alert tone. Well, with PushTone you can change that and make it to what ever you want. It's nice to have and now when an alert goes off, you now know which application it is! There isn't a lot to configure, just install and go into the notification bar in Settings.app and click on a application, scroll down and you can change it from there! It's really nice to have and it's great to hear different sounds go off instead of one.

PushTone is $1.99 in Cydia.

Next up we have something that Apple should have done with iOS 5. I hate when the App Store will not check to see if there is a new app update available, and it's a bothersome to check manually. But thankfully, AppUpdateNotifier from S2 IT Consulting LLC, does the trick. AppUpdateNotifier can check hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly and will have a nice banner at the top of the screen telling you, what app update is out, what version and if you tap on the banner, it'll bring you directly to the app in the App Store and you can update there. It's really neat if you are like me and want to be informed what application has just been updated! There is also a manual "check now" button in the Notification Center if you switched it on in the Notifications panel in the Settings.app. There you can check whenever and even turn off the tweak, and turning back on again!

AppUpdateNotifier is $1.49 in Cydia.

Lastly, we have something awesome. Something so awesome that it was only supposed to be in iOS 5.1. What we are talking about here is, CameraGrabber from Ori (cjori). CameraGrabber adds a the camera button from iOS 5.1 and puts it into iOS 5.0.1 and 5.0. It's really useful since some people do not want to upgrade to 5.1 and loose a untethered jailbreak. So if you want to take a quick picture, you don't need to double press the home button. Just slide your finger up and it'll take you directly to the camera!

The two pastry experts behind Sliced Bread Games have over 12 years of combined experience in the video game industry, working at such companies as Electronic Arts, 2K Games, Namco, and IGN.

In Sliced Bread Games' first title, Sliced Bread, bakers will slice up a variety of pastry and dough delights -- everything from bagels to cookies and waffles to challah bread can be sliced with a swipe of the finger! Every slice gives players points for their score, with multiple slices giving combos and additional points!

Sliced Bread has two game modes -- Extreme Baking and Pastry School. In Extreme Baking mode, players have 90 seconds to slice as much bread as they can before time runs out! In Pastry School apprentice bakers need to slice as much bread as they can without slicing any of the evil angry fruit or breaking eggs -- otherwise, it’s game over! Players will earn points during gameplay that can be converted into dough to purchase new slicers, bonus breads, hilarious powerups, and kitchen upgrades in the item store.
