The mobile app gaming world has expanded to an astounding degree, and sometimes it can be difficult to wade through the pages and pages of results in the App Store. Sure enough, copycats of Angry Birds, Flappy Birds, and Candy Crush exist en masse. Wouldn’t it be nice to find a truly unique gaming experience to immerse yourself into at the end of a long day?
Enter Time Drop, a whimsical new addition to my gaming collection. When I first came across it in the App Store, I was initially a little confused. Is the game just for kids, or is it for older people too? Note to the developers: maybe be clearer about the game’s intended audience? Sure enough, when I started playing, I found myself pleasantly surprised… and, after spending some time with the app, ultimately a little addicted.
It’s a cute set up: the main character’s name is Jean Louis, and he takes his cat named Betsy on an adventure through time. Points for originality and a storyline. Each level is themed around a specific era, and the animated designs are bright and fun. Another reason why Time Drop is appropriate for players of all ages is because it’s a puzzle-based game. For the different levels, players have to match paint drops. The premise might sound easy enough, but the challenges quickly escalate, with a slew of different barriers that get in the way of your matching spree.
One feature I particularly liked was how the game play progressed: players initially start in the Big Bang, then move further and further towards the present. It was fun to see how the designers portrayed each era in time, and with over 100 levels, I could definitely see myself staying entertained in the future!
So if you have some down time in the car, on the train, waiting in line, why not try Time Drop? Overall, I’d recommend it for the open-minded game player who’s looking for a different kind of gaming experience. Let me know what you think! Continue reading this post ->
