Once and awhile you’re having a party, or at someones house and they want to use your iOS device to do something, like calling or showing you a YouTube video. Most of the time, You have to go to them and unlock the device if a passcode is required to allow them access. It’s quite a bother to unlock the device constantly to allow others access, so I found a nifty tweak that allows access to certain parts of the device that you choose. This tweak is GuestMode, which can be found inside Cydia on the BigBoss repo and I want to talk about the benefits of purchasing the tweak, and why I love it so much.
I have a job outside PocketFullOfApps washing dishes at .a local diner. Washing dishes sucks, but I get paid for it which I love. Every now and then I am playing music from my phone and I need quick access to the device, plus I can’t be bothered to type the passcode in each time to pick a different playlist. By using GuestMode, you can greatly benefit from it by just tapping the Guest button and allowed only certain access to the phone. As it stands, I have it setup for Spotify to be accessed in GuestMode so I can quickly change songs, or playlists. It’s quick and doesn’t compromise security to have GuestMode installed. Plus there have been times when fellow friends asked to see if they can look up YouTube videos, and I just hand the phone and they have guest access to YouTube. Thankfully, GuestMode has plenty of options in the settings allowing you to disable a vast number of components and by using it, you can disable anything from ControlCenter to the Notification Center and everything in between. Don’t want them to get banner notifications while in GuestMode? There is an option to disable banners in GuestMode. The features are pretty tight, and you can can disable certain apps from being used or just completely hide them from their view. In addition, there’s also an option to have just the Phone app available to use for the keypad and nothing else.
If you want to buy this amazing and useful tweak, you can head on over to Cydia and purchase GuestMode for only a dollar. Best of all, it’s pretty cheap for something that helps out a lot if your looking for tight security but also to allow others to access your device with some form of security or privacy still there.
