Phosphor Games Studio, a highly regarded developer of innovative video games, confirmed that The Dark Meadow will look better than ever when it makes its Android debut in early 2012 with upgraded tech and features.

Just announced during the Spike TV "Video Game Awards 2011" this past Saturday, the Android version will deliver enhanced visuals and physics resulting from the integration of the new NVIDIA® Tegra® 3 quad-core mobile processor, as well as new gameplay features including new game modes, story elements, levels and characters.

"The response we've received since launching The Dark Meadow has been incredible. It's clear that mobile players want console-style production values in their games," said Chip Sineni, Director at Phosphor Games Studios. "We're very excited to work with NVIDIA on incorporating Tegra 3's quad-core power and give Android owners an unrivaled visual experience to add to our new game modes, levels and characters."

Developed utilizing the acclaimed Unreal Engine 3, The Dark Meadow is a stunning first-person, action/adventure game where players fight to escape a nightmare world filled with fantastical creatures bent on destroying them. You awake in a hospital uncertain of how you arrived there or why. An old man warns of a beautiful witch whose minions roam the halls seeking to kill the living. It is only when the witch is destroyed that you will be released from this unrelenting torment.

As you explore the photo-realistic world, you will need both your crossbow for ranged combat as well as your sword for in close, melee combat. Gesture-based "pull back and fire" as well as slashing combat will be instantly recognizable to touch screen players, and node-based movement through the world makes navigation simple yet compelling.

Role-playing game mechanics enhance the exploration, as a wide variety of items are secreted throughout the world from hidden scraps of paper that reveal the mystery of your imprisonment, to money which can be used to purchase better equipment and weapons.

The Dark Meadow arrives on Android in early 2012 and will be available in English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Italian. An exact date and price will be announced shortly.

Editor's note

While this isn't iPhone or Mac related, The Dark Meadow is a highly popular iOS game and we thought it would be helpful to let any of those who do happen to own both an iOS device and Android device (or just an Android device) know that this game is coming next year.

World Gaming Executives, the business network hub for the world’s gaming elite, has launched its first ever digital download magazine, WGE:MAG.

Produced by UK-based, digital media and marketing start-up, Moshen Limited, the magazine is free to download from the World Gaming Executives website and comes packed with a wide range of features and interviews.

The inaugural edition features an exclusive interview with Beenox‘s Executive Producer, Brant Nicholas, about their latest Spider-Man release.

WGE:MAG also looks at the work of Antix Labs and their AGP technology which could be set to revolutionise the games market for both developers and consumers.

The magazine includes a feature on Fiksu founder, Micah Adler, who explains why his app user acquisition platform has seen tremendous growth since launching earlier this year.

With a bumper 52-pages, there is a wide range of gaming content, including areas of interest such as mobile games, video games, gamification, voice-over work, artwork, careers, licensing and so much more.

Speaking about the launch of the magazine, WGE Director John Armstrong said:

“The gaming industry has so many facets to it and it has been a long-term ambition to bring together the many people and businesses that work within the industry.”

“The gaming community has a fantastic synergy and includes game studios, mobile content companies, model makers, graphic designers, comic artists, movie producers, TV show license holders, gaming/gambling companies and a whole host of businesses with many and varied interests in game production.”

“WGE:MAG is the culmination of that work and this magazine is an opportunity to showcase the many elements that make the global gaming industry one of the most exciting environments to work in.”

Pipclock is a clock app with a Fallout-esque style theme. Here are the built-in features (as said in the App Store)

Some of its built-in features:

✔ Rusty High Resolution Textures for iPhone 4 and iPod 4
✔ Post-apocalyptic retro-futuristic design in Metal Alloy with monochrome Cathode Ray Tube display
✔ Reliable Post-Atomic Clock and Calendar
✔ Sunset – Sunrise Forecast with countdown to sunset and sunrise
✔ Status of the day graph – check out the percentage of sunlight left or how long you have to wait until the light illuminates the wasteland
✔ Moon phase calculator
✔ Arpanet connection to receive important messages broadcasted by the Federal Government from its underground shelter¹
✔ Help and Settings to configure your device

That’s a lot of features for only $0.99. The only thing it’s missing is an alarm, but that’s alright though because all the features it gives you. Normally a clock app like this would cost $1.99 or even $2.99. If you’re a Fallout fan or not, pick this one up, it’s really cool.

At first, this may seem like an odd editorial/title/article (don’t worry, I do too), however, once you read this, it may make sense at first (hopefully). As we all know, the App Store has been around for some time now and has had a huge spike in downloads along with users in the last 6 months. Along with that, we’ve seen the biggest increase of iOS gaming and new releases of games for iOS devices as well. We’ve seen everything from First Person Shooters like Mordern Combat 2, to RPGs, online games, board games ports like Monopoly and The Game of Life, to fantasy, action, sports, to shoot ‘em ups, zombies, puzzle, and so many more. But with all those mentioned, something stands out the most with those. I’ve never seen Mordern Combat 2: Black Pegasus, World of Goo, Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, Final Fantasy III, Dungeon Defenders: First Wave, or similar games never as high in the top paid charts as say…Angry Birds, Air Penguin (yes penguins are birds), or Tiny Wings. You know what all these games have in common? Birds. Yes, birds. This is where the title comes into play. All of those games have been in the top 10 or 15 for a really good amount of time and may still be there. So, it seems to be as if iOS users love birds, a lot. While that’s not all the reason, it’s just something funny I thought of out of no where. The other part of the reason I believe, is that iOS users also love a simple yet well made UI, a game that you can pull out and kill a couple of minutes with, along with polished graphics like Angry Birds or Tiny Wings.

While this may have nothing to do with much, it’s just something funny observation I made and I think the latter reason is a bigger factor than the bird factor. At the time of the writing, those games were at those positions, however, they may have changed since then.

Peter Sunde, the founder of the popular torrent website, Pirate Bay, who is currently facing jail time and a whooping $700,000 fine after unsuccessfully fighting charges of encouraging copyright infringement. But were not here to talk about that matter, if you want to know more on that, feel free. Anyway, he had something really interesting to say about Apple and the Mac App Store recently which, in fact, I somewhat agree with him on what he has to say. He told Forbes and Cult of Mac a number of different things on Apple and the Mac App Store. To start off, he said to Forbes, that the Map App Store represented a “lucrative move for them to move into forcing you to use their App Store to get programs”, and “Apple is going on the path to control computer use”. Her also said this to Cult of Mac:

Even though they might not force us to use the App store today, it is of course a lucrative move for them to move into forcing you to use their app store to get programs.
The problem is actually not the app store itself, but that Apple runs it, as well as your OS and your hardware. If the app store would be a third party, no problem.
When Apple owns this store, it means that they have incentive to make it more controlled since it makes them money. THAT is the root of the problem.

I agree with somethings he says, and I do think that it’s possible that Apple could become like Microsoft one day. But we’ll have to see. For more info, and quote of his, below are the links.

Ah, what do we have here, Steve Jobs’ fake New Year’s resolutions for 2011? I think so. Scoopertino is back at what they do best folks — provide fake Apple news for the masses, which is funny no matter what. Plus, if you happen to know (or even don’t know them) Scoopertino you’re in for a real treat this time. This time around, they have found Steve Jobs’ New Year’s resolutions for 2011 scribbled down on a Starbucks napkin. Sounds like another joke about an iPhone 4G prototype found in a bar, right?

Palo Alto, CA — Uh-oh. Another piece of top-secret Apple material has been left behind in a public place. Only this time the culprit is Steve Jobs himself.

A napkin bearing Steve’s hand-scrawled New Year’s resolutions was picked up by an astute patron in a Palo Alto Starbucks after the Apple CEO rushed out to take a call.

After a brief bidding war with Gizmodo, Scoopertino has taken possession of the napkin and proudly presents this teardown:

The napkin is standard-issue Starbucks beige. Written in what appears to be a thin Sharpie, black, are ten numbered resolutions. It cannot be determined if they are in ascending or descending order of importance. Three mug stains appear to be random.

Some of Steve’s resolutions are shocking and/or surprising, while others suggest a playful CEO who enjoys pranking the likes of Mark Zuckerberg — and fleeing the likes of Steve Wozniak.

Resolution #1 — Keep the Verizon myth going — will likely rock Wall Street today. Resolution #5 — Reject more apps, just for fun — shows a CEO who delights in his work. Resolution #9 may have even the most fervent Apple fans questioning their faith — Upgrade to iPhone 4 when antenna gets fixed.

Apple’s PR department declined to respond, saying they do not comment on unreleased resolutions.
