SpoonFlip by Stanimation is a simple yet very challenging (Hard! That is!) game where you try to flip a spoon and hoping to shoot it n a cup or a stack of it.
There are four stacks to choose from. The first has only a one cup, the second has a stack of two cups and so on and so forth. Even with the the first one, this game proves to be hard enough. What more having the spoon flip high enough in the air to reach the peak of a four-cup stack.
The controls are easy, there are two spoons. The first spoon acts as the trigger for the second spoon in which you try to shoot. By simply tapping the tip of the first spoon will make it flip. And because the second spoon is above it, it will flip as well, but harder. This causes it to launch in the air. You can adjust the position of the second spoon by tilting your iPhone or iPod Touch. This maneuver seems to be a little off because the spoon slides too fast and it’s hard to pinpoint a position. It would be better if we could instead just hold and drag it into position, right?

Holding a different but subtle position on the second spoon will somewhat make the launching different, so there are no similar flips that will occur. I just don’t understand how you control the strength of the first spoon. Sometimes it flips hard, sometimes it does not. For the physics, it’s pretty spot-on but not without little issues. I actually learned that you can flip a spoon and make it stand on its own!
It is a good-looking game but it gets boring too easy because it feels so static. The spoons are not in 3D so you’ll see the same view of the spoon all throughout. I mean you won’t see it’s back, its full front view, etc. The color scheme is boring, you’ll only see four colors – yellow-green, gold, silver and black. It’s very bland and feels like there’s no life.

Overall, this game gets me going for a few minutes trying to shoot the spoon. I can say that it got me hooked for the first few minutes, but it gets old really fast. My final verdict is to rent this game. Oh right, there’s no such service for iPhone games. So, just pass on this one. Yes, it’s only $0.99, but it’s not a valid reason. If it is, then it’s okay to buy all the $0.99 games on the App Store no matter how bad they are.
