Warwick Davis releasing iOS app ‘pocketWARWICK’
Warwick Davis, star of film and TV, is now aiming for stardom in the gaming industry — with the upcoming launch of his first mobile game, pocketWARWICK. The app, which is Davis’ brainchild, brings his unique sense of humor to life in gaming form and shows that “size matters not”, even in pocket-size. Combining elements of Tamagotchi and the Sims together, the game, which is free to download, players look after their own “pocket” version of Warwick Davis, sending him on film auditions and other tasks — with the aim to take over the film industry one movie role at a time!
For each successful audition and role that Warwick completes, he is rewarded with XP points, and films that do well at the box office pay royalties. The more successful he is, the bigger a star he becomes – moving from a Z-lister to a potential A-lister. These XP points and royalties can then used to buy items in-game, allowing players to improve Warwick’s living environment as well as buy items for future auditions. In addition, players can buy in-app credits for items they want at any stage.
At launch, the game will feature over 150 film auditions and over 100 other tasks. Warwick has worked with technology investors Offficial, who are the producers of the app and developers Matmi to create his first venture into the gaming world. Warwick Davis says the app has allowed his creativity to flourish in a different world to the film and TV industries.
“I’m thrilled with the app so far. We’ve worked hard to make sure people get a laugh while playing something enjoyable. Creating the auditions for was one of my favourite parts – titles pocketWARWICK will audition for include Small Runnings, Shortfellas and The Half-Monty – I only wish these were real movies!”
The app will be released in mid-October. Stay tuned for more info!
