Ladies, you know it can be hard to find the right hairstyle to fit not only your type of hair, but also the shape of your face, your personality, and the event you happen to be styling for. Half the time your hair won’t do what you want it to and the rest of the time you don’t know what the heck you’re doing. And after hours spent washing, drying, flat-ironing, and curling your hair only to have it fall flat or turn into a frizzy bird’s nest, you could be understandably frustrated (or ready to shave it all off and wear a perfectly-coifed wig). In short, we often find ourselves wishing we had celebrity stylists on hand to help us understand our own hair and create the runway-ready styles we see our favorite singers and actresses sporting. Luckily, there is an app designed to get you one step closer to the hairstyles you crave and make sure that they are right for you. By downloading the free Hairstyle Wizard to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch you can quickly find the styles, tips, and tricks that will have you looking like a celeb yourself.
It’s simple enough to start; all you have to do is upload your own photo to begin perusing hairstyles. Of course, you will need to use a good photo, so make sure that you are facing the camera head on (this can easily be done with any Apple device that features a front-facing camera) and snap your pick in an area that features ample lighting (just avoid direct sunlight, which can blow-out the photo, or overhead lighting, which can leave long shadows on your face). Once you’ve got your pic uploaded you can easily begin to see celebrity hairstyles on yourself and find the one that is right for you. And for those that don’t want to bother taking a photo, there are a number of stand-in models to choose from (although if you want to find the best style, you’ll need to select a model that shares a similar face shape and features).
You’ll begin the process by answering a few simple questions, including the type of event you’re attending (whether you’re going to an evening event, keeping it casual, or heading out on a hot date), the mood you’re in, and the relative length of your hair. Then the app will access a catalog of celebrity photos to provide you with a few styles that should best meet your criteria. These will be displayed via a large photo of you sporting the celeb hair (you can shrink or enlarge and reposition it to fit your face), as well as a thumbprint of the original celebrity photo in the corner of the screen. If you don’t see something you like you can always change your settings or search for more picks. And you can save any you like to try later on or show a stylist (without having to waste paper for printouts).
You can even post pics of you with new hair to Facebook (or email them) to get feedback from your friends and family. And you can upload pics of your friends to help them find the perfect hairstyle for an event (or everyday life). Sadly, this app cannot transplant gorgeous celebrity hair onto your head (you’ll have to hit up Tempus Hair restoration for that). But it can give you some great ideas for a new ‘do and let you know just how it will look on you before you ever snip, dye, or style your hair.
