Auto Crisis is a fun, arcade racing game. It was developed by Baraboom and was released on December 28, 2009. You can buy the game for $0.99 here.

Gameplay

There are two game modes in Auto Crisis, time attack mode with ghost cars, and challenge mode with weapons and opponents. In challenge mode, you race around a city with three other opponents. You pick up weapons and power ups along the way, similar to Mario Kart. However, in time attack mode, your goal is to finish the race as fast as possible. Another thing I want to point out is that the game is very choppy on the 1st generation iPod touch, frame rate issues make it a strain on the eyes.

Graphics

The graphics in Auto Crisis are beautiful. The graphics feature cinematic lightning and post-render effects. You can also see a faint reflectionthe car’s front mirror which is outstanding. Here is a picture of the game on a 2nd generation iPod touch:

As you can see, the graphics are very high quality. You can also see the shadows of buildings which is an excellent feature.

Controls

The controls were easy to learn, but they are very hard to master. To control your car, simply tap and hold the bottom of the screen to accelerate. You can then move your finger side to side depending on what direction you want to go in. To drive backwards, swipe downwards and hold, then move your finger side to side to change directions. To use power ups simply, double tap the screen.

Sound

The sound effects in Auto Crisis are very nice. There are tons of explosions and rockets flying across the screen and the sounds are high quality. The music is jazzy and gets repetitive but when you play the game you will not even notice it, so it will not bother you.

Replay Value

Auto Crisis doesn’t offer too much replay value since there are only two game modes and one map. This can be boring and repetitive as you race through your way. The game also allows you to change your car color in time attack mode.

Bottom Line

If you want an action packed arcade racing game, then Auto Crisis is for you. However, Auto Crisis has frame rate issues on the 1st generation iPod touch which make the game difficult to play. The game also jumps a bit on the 2nd generation iPod touch. But for $0.99 you can’t go wrong with lots of action and excellent graphics.
